Evidence and research

We distinguish verified facts from judgement.

Evaluations may draw on manufacturer specifications, retailer listings, regulatory or certification information, pricing observations and reputable independent reviews or testing. We cross-check material claims where practical and avoid presenting unverified marketing language as fact.

We do not claim first-hand testing unless LaptopValue has actually handled or tested the relevant product. When an assessment relies on documented specifications and third-party evidence, the wording should make that clear.

Scoring

The same framework applies whether or not a link earns commission.

Scores are based on category, market tier and intended use. Component rewards recognise genuine strengths, while proportionate penalties capture material problems that would not otherwise be reflected. Price affects the value verdict, not the underlying quality score.

Commercial independence

No paid rankings and no purchased scores.

Retailers, manufacturers and affiliate networks cannot buy a higher score or guaranteed editorial placement. A commercial relationship does not prevent criticism, and the absence of an affiliate relationship does not exclude a retailer or product from consideration.

Any paid placement or sponsored content introduced in future will be clearly identified and visually separated from independent editorial rankings.

Corrections

Material errors should be corrected promptly.

Laptop configurations and prices change frequently. When we confirm a material factual error, we will correct the relevant page. Scores may also be revised when better evidence becomes available or when the scoring framework is improved.
